COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s hockey’s Jenna Buglioni and Sophie Jaques have earned conference player of the month awards for their performance during the Buckeyes’ November schedule, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) announced Tuesday. Buglioni was tabbed the Forward of the Month, while Jaques garnered Defender of the Month honors.

The duo helped the Buckeyes to a 5-0-1 record during the month, including a 6-2 win over No. 6 Colgate.  Both players scored at least one point in each game played in November.

A junior from Port Moody, B.C., Buglioni led the WCHA with 11 points this month. She tallied four multi-point games, including a three-point game against Bemidji State (11/18). Her +11 in six games tied for the best in the conference last month. She averaged 1.83 points per game for Ohio State during the month of November and added seven blocked shots and 13 faceoff wins.

Buglioni, who is currently on a six-game point streak for the Buckeyes, earned her first Forward of the Month award and second player of the month award for her career. She was previously named a Rookie of the Month during the 2020-21 season.

Jaques, who earned two conference Defender of the Week awards this month, led WCHA defensemen with 10 points in November. She finished one point behind Buglioni in overall points among conference players this month and scored five points more than the next defenseman. She tied for the most goals with five and added two power play goals.

The Toronto, Ont. native continues to lead the country in goals per game (.94) and ranks second in the conference in points per game (1.56), as a defenseman. The Defender of the Month award is her second of the year and sixth of her career.

The team travels to play meets Minnesota Duluth on Friday and Saturday at 4 p.m. ET at Amsoil Arena in Duluth, Minn. Friday’s game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network and Saturday’s matchup will be streamed on B1G+ (subscription required).
