COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 18 Ohio State Buckeyes (10-7, 3-5 B1G) fell to No. 6 Michigan (11-5, 5-3 B1G) in Ann Arbor on Friday evening in the final conference game of the season.
The Short Story
Michigan opened scoring midway through the first quarter with a goal off a penalty corner chance. The Wolverines scored in each of the first three quarters before Ohio State broke the shutout with a Leanne Bough with 10 minutes to play to cap scoring.
How It Happened
- Pilar Oliveros got Michigan on the board first midway through the opening quarter with a goal on the direct penalty corner feed.
- Lora Clarke scored the other two goals for the Wolverines. Her first of the game was at the beginning of the second quarter on a pass from the baseline. Clarke’s second of the evening was at the end of the third quarter – a backhand shot from the top of the arc.
- Leanne Bough scored her seventh of the season with 10 minutes to play in the game, breaking through on her own rebound.

- Emma Goldean started her 85th career game, which ties Jenn Sciulli (2008-11) for the school record for most career starts.
- Friday’s game featured the two best statistical defenses in the conference. The Wolverines entered the game allowing just 0.93 goals per game, which ranks first, while Ohio State is second at 1.06 goals/game.
- Abby Danson (0.95) and Anna Spieker (0.73) are the only two goalies in the conference with a goals-against average below 1.00.
What’s Next
Ohio State concludes its regular season on Sunday, Oct. 30, with a 1 p.m. game at home vs. Ball State. Following the game, the Buckeyes will honor seven seniors: Leanne Bough, Delaney Lawler, Sarah Charley, Grace Kim, Malen Iglesias, Janekke Van Stophout and Emma Goldean.
