No. 13 Women’s Hockey Set to Open 2022-23 Season Against No. 7 Quinnipiac

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No.13 Harvard Women’s Hockey (0-0-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) will begin its season this Saturday when it welcomes the No. 7 Quinnipiac Bobcats (6-0-0, 0-0-0 ECAC) to the Bright-Landry Hockey Center for a tilt at 3 PM. The Crimson, will begin its pursuit of back-to-back Ivy League Championships and ECAC/NCAA Tournament berths when it takes the ice this weekend.
 
Katey Stone, the Landry Family Head Coach for Harvard Women’s Ice Hockey, will be behind the bench in what will be the start of her 28th season at the helm of the program. Stone will lead a talented group of returning players this season including All-ECAC Selections, Kristin Della Rovere and Kyra Willoughby. The Crimson also added five newcomers in the Class of 2026 who will all look to make a positive impact in their first collegiate seasons.
 
Coming into the matchup undefeated, Quinnipiac will also open its ECAC schedule when it hits the ice against the Crimson.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Harvard is 20-11-3 all-time against Quinnipiac and 11-6 when playing in Bright-Landry
  • The sides have split the season series in the past two years
  • The Crimson is undefeated (14-0-1) against the Bobcats when it scores three goals
  • Harvard has won its past four home openers
  • The team is 9-0-1 in its past ten games in which it opens the season at home
  • This matchup against Quinnipiac is the start of a four-game homestand for the Crimson, its longest of the season
  • Harvard’s 2022-23 roster features student-athletes from all over the continent including Canada (5), Massachusetts (10) and Minnesota (6)

  •  Seniors Anne Bloomer, Kristin Della Rovere and Kyra Willoughby will captain the Crimson in 2022-23
  • Harvard welcomed five new faces to the locker room this offseason. Forwards Sophie Ensley, Gwynn Lapp and Indi Wagner along with defenders Jade Arnone and Katie Kasica were all welcomed in the Class of 2026
  • Sophomores Daisy Boynton and Alex Pellicci will lead the goaltending effort for Harvard
  • Harvard compiled a 22-9-1 record in 2021, its most wins since 2014-15. The Crimson went 16-5-1 in ECAC Hockey play, winning its first regular season league title since 201 Harvard also captured the Ivy League crown, Women’s Beanpot Championship and earned an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament during the 2021-22 campaign
