The Denver Broncos might not be very familiar with many hockey terms, but they are rooting for Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche.
Broncos players were asked about the Avalanche’s Stanley Cup Playoffs success in a new video posted on the team’s Twitter.
“I wouldn’t say I’m a hockey fan, but I’m an Avs fan,” linebacker Bradley Chubb said in the video. “I like the Avs, I like going to the games, the atmosphere is crazy. So, I’m glad they are having success right now.”
Later in the video, the Broncos were asked to name the meaning of some hockey phrases such as “light the lamp,” “five-hole,” “chicklets,” “biscuit in the basket” and “sin bin.” Most of the players struggled to answer the questions but came up with some funny answers. Chubb actually did quite well on the quiz.
Other players, not so much.
“Light the lamp? Come on man is this real? Is this a real term?” safety Justin Simmons asked.
“The torch before the game or something?” wide receiver K.J. Hamler answered.
Five-hole was another phrase that tripped up the players.
“The five-hole… the penalty box,” offensive guard Dalton Risner guessed.
Despite not being hockey experts, the Broncos ended the video wishing good luck to the Avalanche and telling Nathan MacKinnon to score another hat trick.
