Philadelphia Flyers announce plans to celebrate Pride Month

In celebration of Pride Month, the Philadelphia Flyers announced their plans to celebrate and support Philadelphia’s local LGBTQ+ community through a special partnership with Cocktails for a Cause, donations to local LGBTQ+ programs, and Pride-focused community activations throughout the month of June.
 
“The Flyers belong to everyone in the City of Philadelphia, and especially during Pride Month, we want to send a clear message that we support the LGBTQ+ community,” said Valerie Camillo, President of Business Operations for the Philadelphia Flyers. “Love is love and we look forward to celebrating and supporting our LBGTQ+ family all month long.”

SCOTT LAUGHTON RAISES PRIDE FLAG AT WELLS FARGO CENTER

Yesterday, on the eve of Pride Month, Flyers forward Scott Laughton raised a Pride flag which will be flown at Wells Fargo Center for the duration of June. Laughton and teammate James van Riemsdyk stand as allies of the LGBTQ+ community and actively serve as ambassadors for You Can Play Project, whose mission is to ensure the safety and inclusion for all who participate in sports.
 
At this year’s Flyers Pride game on February, 21 Laughton and van Riemsdyk partnered with the Flyers organization to launch a new initiative aimed at growing the game of hockey in the LGBTQ+ community. Through the program, Laughton and van Riemsdyk provided four game tickets to select local LGBTQ+ organizations for 12 home games through the remainder of the 2021-2022 season. In addition, Laughton personally matched a $5,000 donation from Flyers Charities to support You Can Play Project to support their work in the greater Philadelphia region to ensure the safety and inclusion for all who participate in sports including LGBTQ+ athletes, coaches and fans.
