Grammy Award-winning rapper Macklemore and Super Bowl champion Marshawn Lynch are the newest investors in the Seattle Kraken ownership group.
“We are fortunate to have an incredibly strong investor group which has guided the franchise over the last four years,” Samantha Holloway, chairperson of the Kraken’s executive committee, said in a news release. “We are now adding two hometown heroes who share our values and desires — to give back to this great city and continue to make hockey a sport for everyone.”
Macklemore grew up in Seattle and still lives in the city. Lynch was a fan favorite during his run with the Seahawks, for whom he appeared in 83 games.
Both are longtime supporters in the community, with Macklemore using his platforms to advocate for social and racial justice. Lynch serves underprivileged youth, including through his Fam 1st Family Foundation.
