Buffalo Sabres prospect Devon Levi has won the Mike Richter Award, given annually to the top goaltender in college hockey.
Levi, 20, led the nation with a .952 save percentage, the second-best mark in NCAA history. He tied for second in shutouts (11) and third in goals-against average. He was also named First Team All-American and won the Tim Taylor Award as college hockey’s top rookie.
The goaltender informed the Sabres he will return for his junior season at Northeastern University in 2022-23.
“He’s such a mature kid the way he looks at it,” general manager Kevyn Adams said. “And one of the things he said that I found interesting is that, ‘I wanted to feel that pressure every day of people looking at me like I’m a top guy,’ which is a pretty interesting way to look at it.”
