St. Thomas at Lindenwood Recap – December 10, 2021

Maryland Heights, Mo. – St. Thomas women’s hockey (4-12-1, 2-11-1 WCHA) rallied from down three scores to push Lindenwood (4-13-0, 3-3 CHA) to overtime in a 4-3 loss on Friday.

After the initial 20 minutes of play, the Tommies found themselves trailing, 2-0. The first period was primarily spent on the Tommies’ defensive end, as St. Thomas faced 31 shots and 17 shots on goal. Both opposing team’s goals came at even strength. The Toms amassed six blocks as a unit in the opening period, led by freshman defenseman Maddy Clough (2). On the offensive end, all 11 of St. Thomas’ shot attempts were on goal.

A power-play opportunity early in the second period was unsuccessful as shots from Clough and sophomore forward Luci Bianchi were unable to clear the net. On the defensive end of the ice, the Tommies halted a Lindenwood power-play as the Lions accrued five shot attempts with an advantage.
