ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women’s ice hockey team is set to begin Hockey East play with UConn and Northeastern coming to Alfond Arena on Friday, Oct. 15 and Saturday, Oct. 16.
For the Black Bears, they are coming off a weekend sweep against LIU 4-2 and 3-2. Graduate Student Captain, Taylor Leech, scored a pair of goals for the Black Bears on her way to being named Hockey East Defender of the Week. Celine Tedenby led all Black Bears over the weekend series with four points (1 Goal, 3 Assists).
For UConn, they find themselves off to a fast start at 4-0-0 through their first few weekends of action. Most recently they find themselves with a weekend sweep of RIT, 4-3 and 6-2.
Northeastern comes to town following a Wednesday night matchup against Saint Anselm where they will look to end their current 2 game losing streak. The Huskies find themselves with a 2-2 record, all of which have been in-conference games.
Per University of Maine system guidance, UMaine Athletics will require all guests attending home hockey events to provide full proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test, which must be administered within the previous 72 hours. Patrons must have a mask in place covering their nose and mouth prior to entry to the venues. Doors will open for the public 90 minutes prior to puck drop.
Puck drop is slated for both games to be at 4:00 P.M.
