Canada leaned on its penalty kill to earn a pre-tournament win over the Finns ahead of women’s worlds

CALGARY, Alta. – Emily Clark (Saskatoon, Sask.) netted the game-winning
goal midway through the third period, sending Canada’s National Women’s
Team to a 4-1 win over Finland in pre-tournament action Wednesday ahead of
the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship.

With the Canadians carrying the play but unable to beat Meeri Räisänen,
Clark kept the puck on a three-on-one break and wired a shot over the
short-side shoulder of the Finnish netminder.

Canada leaned heavily on its penalty kill, which kept the Finns scoreless
on 11 opportunities with the power play, including a five-minute advantage
early in the third period and an extended six-on-three late when it was
still a one-goal game.
