COLUMBUS, Ohio – Behind 27 saves from Jakub Dobes, a second-period goal from Tate Singleton and a strong night on the penalty kill, the No. 7/8 Ohio State men’s hockey team skated to a 2-0 shutout win at Wisconsin Saturday in the Kohl Center.

Ohio State, which took three of four games vs. Wisconsin in the regular season, improves to 16-9-1 on the year and 9-7-0-0-0-0 in Big Ten play. Wisconsin is 10-14-0 and has a 3-11-0-0-0 B1G mark.

The Short Story

• Wisconsin had 10 shots on goal in the opening 20 minutes, with the Buckeyes putting nine on net.
• Eight minutes into the game the Buckeyes faced a two-minute 5-on-3 power play after a hitting from behind penalty and faceoff violation call on the ensuing faceoff. The Buckeyes were able to kill off the chance, allowing UW just three shots on net in the two minutes.
• At 6:24 of the second Tate Singleton opened the scoring with a 4-on-4 goal. From near the Buckeye goal, Mason Lohrei sent a pass to Singleton at the Badger blueline. He drove into the zone down the right lane and scored from near the faceoff dot. Stephen Halliday had the second assist on the tally, Singleton’s sixth of the year.
• Jakub Dobes had 12 saves in the period for Ohio State, with the Buckeyes putting nine shots on net. Ohio State had one power play chance in the second, Wisconsin two.
• Ohio State limited the Badgers to five shots on goal in the third period to help maintain the one-goal lead. The Buckeyes had nine shots on net in the stanza and the only two power play chances.
