Despite short bench, Twinsburg ice hockey takes second at Rocket Holiday Tournament

Playing short-handed, the Twinsburg ice hockey team showed some resiliency and toughness to finish second overall in the annual Bay Village Rocket Holiday Tournament in Lakewood.

With a host of athletes not able to play in the tournament at Serpentini Arena, the Tigers had to make some adjustments and responded to the adversity in fine fashion.

Twinsburg had a late start to the tournament this weekend. After having to forfeit Friday night’s game against Elyria Catholic, the Tigers were able to play Saturday and Sunday to finish out the tourney.

“We were down to seven players for this tournament,” pointed out head coach Mike Johnston. “The team played well being down so many players. I am very proud of how they played.”

Johnston loved his club’s work level and courage to battle throughout the weekend without having the luxury of a deep bench.
