MADISON, Wis. – After each recording four-point weekends to help the Badgers be crowned the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off champions on Dec. 28-29, Quinn Finley and Cody Laskosky have been named the Big Ten’s second and third Stars of the Week, respectively, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Sophomore forward Finley scored three goals over the tournament – including notching a two-goal, three-point night in UW’s 8-0 win over Ferris State in the semifinals – to bring his nation-leading goal total to 15. His 26 points rank second in the country and first in the Big Ten, and his seven power-play goals are tied for the national lead. The Suamico, Wisconsin, native was named the tournament’s most outstanding forward for his efforts.
Graduate student forward Laskosky also had a two-goal, three-point night against Ferris State on Saturday before being awarded the game-winning empty-net goal in the Badgers’ 4-3 win over UConn in the finals. The Camrose, Alberta, native has four goals in his last four games to total seven goals and nine points in 20 games played this year.
This marks Finley’s second and Laskosky’s first career Big Ten weekly honor, bringing Wisconsin’s 2024-25 season total to six. The most recent Badger to be a Star of the Week was senior goaltender Tommy Scarfone, who was named the conference’s third star on Dec. 17.
Finley, Laskosky and the Badgers return to Big Ten play with a series at Michigan State on Thursday and Saturday, Jan. 2 and 4. Thursday’s game will be played at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing, Michigan, while Saturday’s game will take place outdoors as part of the Frozen Confines: Big Ten Hockey Series at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Thursday’s game starts at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday’s begins at 8 p.m. Both contests air on the Big Ten Network.
