As MSG Networks prepares for another season of broadcasting New York Islanders games, a popular analyst could be on the verge of a national promotion.
On Monday, it was reported that Thomas Hickey is a possibility to join Prime Monday Night Hockey as an analyst for Canada’s newest streaming broadcast.

The Hockey News has heard the same.
Hickey joined the Islanders’ MSG broadcast team in 2022 after retiring from hockey.
He quickly became a popular figure on the air as he returned to the Islanders family, even participating in team alumni events.
In addition to his work at MSG, he is also an analyst with NHL Network.
This new role will make him a color commentator, a role he’s done a few times, filling in for Butch Goring.

If he winds up receiving the position, it’s unknown how it will affect his future with the Islanders.
Even with the new spot, pulling double duty is not out of the question.
New York’s play-by-play man Brendan Burke consistently works games with the NHL on TNT, meaning a flexible schedule could also be in play.
More information on Monday Night Hockey will likely become available in the weeks before the start of the season.
This is a developing story. The Hockey News will have more on the story as it becomes available.
