Wild Announce Three-Year Extension with ECHL Affiliate

The Hockey News - Minnesota Wild

ST. PAUL – Minnesota Wild President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Guerin announced on Friday a three-year extension of its ECHL affiliation agreement with the Iowa Heartlanders.

The Heartlanders will continue to serve as the Wild’s ECHL team for the next three years. The agreement also allows Wild prospects to be assigned to the Heartlanders for developmental purposes throughout the season.

“We are very excited to extend our ECHL affiliation agreement with the Iowa Heartlanders,” Guerin said in the team’s release. “It is great for our organization to have the ability to develop players at both the AHL and ECHL level in Iowa. We look forward to continuing to help the Heartlanders and Iowa Wild grow hockey in the state.”

Since their inaugural season in 2021-22 the Iowa Heartlanders have been the Wild’s ECHL team and will now be their affiliate for three more years.
