Syracuse Orange ice hockey is adding two veterans for the upcoming season – and both have experience wearing the ‘C’ for their previous teams.
F Bryn Saarela and D Charli Kettyle spent the past four seasons playing against one another as rivals in Hockey East. For their last college campaign, they’ll be in the same locker room.
Saarela, a Denver, Colorado native, missed just two games over her four-year career with Holy Cross. She tallied 21 goals and 31 assists for the Crusaders during that stretch, including a pair of game-winners.
Kettyle hails from Ontario and was one of the core contributors on both sides of the ice with New Hampshire. She led the Wildcats in assists this past season with 13 and has 29 in her career, along with seven goals.
Both transfers will help to stem the mass exodus of players, as 12 of the 23 members of last year’s team were either seniors or grad students who are now out of eligibility. We’ll keep you updated through the summer as Head Coach Britni Smith continues to rebuild her roster.
