The Start of a “Mini Series” in Laval – Rocket Laval

With the series tied at one win apiece, Rocket begins what could be seen as a new best-of-three series — all games to be played at Place Bell

“It’s practically a new series. I can’t wait to get back into the action and see our fans again!”

On the eve of the third game in the North Division Final, Gustav Lindström expressed his eagerness to return to the heat of battle — and with good reason.

The last showdown between Rocket and the Rochester Americans took place on Friday, May 16. Although Rocket came up short in that match, it is excited to return home and get back to winning ways.

With the series tied 1-1, both teams will clash at Place Bell on Wednesday and Friday for Games 3 and 4, and potentially again on Sunday if a deciding Game 5 is needed.

TURNING THE PAGE

Rocket didn’t have its best outing of the campaign in Game 2 in Rochester, suffering a 5-3 loss. Tonight, the mission will be to start fresh and deliver a stronger performance in front of the home crowd.

“That’s been the strength of our team this season. We’ve been able to not dwell too much on losses. Losing leaves a bitter taste, so we really double down. We make sure to work hard and make the necessary adjustments,” said Jared Davidson.

Pascal Vincent’s club has only had one three-game losing streak all season — a stretch that occurred in late November. Rocket has proven that resilience is part of its DNA.

TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HOME ICE

As mentioned earlier, thanks to its higher position in the standings, Rocket will host the final three games of the series. There’s a clear benefit to having the support of the home crowd.

However, Rocket is wary of falling into the same trap as during its first home playoff game — Game 3 against the Cleveland Monsters — which resulted in a loss.

“We learned from that game,” confirmed Rafaël Harvey-Pinard. “I think all the players were really excited to play that first game in Laval — and many had never experienced it before. We knew it would be loud, and we focused too much on that. We talked about it today, and we know we can’t just feed off the crowd. We also have to play our own game.”
