Colorado College has been in the market for two new assistants after parting ways with Peter Mannino and the departure of Andrew Ogilvie for his alma mater Notre Dame. And Tigers head coach Kris Mayotte has landed two known quantities.

Long-time Notre Dame assistant Paul Pooley is coming to Colorado Springs, along with former Michigan Tech assistant Jordy Murray.

Pooley, 64, was Jeff Jackson’s assistant at Notre Dame for Jackson’s entire 20-year tenure, coming over after being let go as head coach at Providence. Pooley led the Friars for 11 seasons. Prior to Providence, Pooley was an assistant coach at Ohio State for three seasons, and Lake Superior State for one. Pooley played four seasons at Ohio State, and 15 NHL games for Winnipeg from 1984-86.

Pooley’s twin brother, Perry, also played at Ohio State, as did Perry’s son, Austin. Paul Pooley’s son, Scott, played at Holy Cross.

Murray is also from a hockey familly — he is the son of former NHL and Western Michigan coach Andy Murray. He played three seasons at Wisconsin, and also was, for one year, an assistant at Notre Dame. He then went to Michigan Tech, where he’s been the last three seasons.
