The Boston Fleet hosted the Montreal Victoire on Tuesday, March 18 for their fifth matchup of the 2024-25 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) season. The Fleet took the victory here, 3-2, in the shootout.

Although the Victoire took four penalties in the first period, it wasn’t until the final one that the Fleet were able to capitalize on the extra player advantage. Susanna Tapani dropped the puck down for Sidney Morin at the blue line. She took a shot and Hilary Knight was able to tip the puck into the net from where she stood in front of it. The first period came to an end with the Fleet on the board.
Six minutes into the second period, Montreal tied the game. Lina Ljungblom skated the puck around the net. Near the boards, she took the shot and it found Amanda Boulier next to the post. Boulier tipped the puck into the net for a 1-1 score.
Halfway into the second period, Knight passed the puck to Susanna Tapani. On a breakaway, she skated up to the net. Her shot hit the crossbar and bounced into the back of the net to give the Fleet the lead.
12 minutes into the second, Ann-Renee Desbiens took a hard fall after trying to make a save. She was helped off the ice and immediately went down the tunnel for evaluation. Elaine Chuli stepped in to defend the crease for Montreal.
Three minutes left in the second, Anna Wilgren took a shot from the center of the ice. The puck bounced off the iron and into the back of the net. The second period came to a close with the score tied at two.
With a minute left in the game, Kristin O’Neill took a seat for slashing and Emily Brown took a seat for roughing. Only a minute and four seconds of 4-on-4 hockey was played before regulation time ended. This matchup had to go to overtime to decide the winner.
Montreal took two shot attempts in overtime while Boston had five. Neither team made a goal happen here and this game went to a shootout.
Tapani was up first for the Fleet, but whiffed the pass. Ljungblom had the first chance for the Victoire, but Soderberg made the save.
In the second round, Knight mishandled the puck and couldn’t get the shot attempt off. Marie-Philip Poulin tried to tuck the puck into the net but Soderberg once again saved it.
Alina Muller scored the first goal in the third round. Erin Ambrose went up for the Victoire for the third round. She also scored, and kept both teams alive in…
