The Flyers will be retaining 50 per cent of Laughton’s contract as part of the deal.

Laughton, 30, is a top nine forward that can make an impact with his physicality, which should make him a perfect fit for the Leafs heading into the playoffs. Despite playing just 24 playoff games in his career, teams have been salivating at the opportunity to add Laughton to their top nine forward unit and deploy the Oakville native with force.

With 30-40 point production, as well as the ability to play a physical playoff style of game, Laughton could end up being a potential game-breaker for the Buds when it comes to the playoffs and could help lift Toronto to a Stanley Cup. Laughton also comes with a bit of term as he is signed on until the end of next season at a very favourable cap hit at $3 million.

Toronto sit second-place in the Atlantic Division, behind the Florida Panthers, with 38-21-3 record. The Maple Leafs are listed with +1800 odds to win the Stanley Cup and have a over/under set at 103.5 regular season points.

A bet to look at would be the Leafs to win the Division at +210 as they sit just two points behind the Panthers and could easily surpass them as they have a slightly easier schedule than Florida to end off the season.
