The Winnipeg Jets and Florida Panthers have completed a goalie trade, with the Jets sending Kaapo Kahkonen to the Panthers in exchange for Chris Driedger.

Kahkonen has played one game for the Jets this season and 22 games for their AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose. He has a record of  6-14-1 with a .885 SP and 3.29 GAA.

Driedger has a 10-6-4 record with a 2.97 GAA and .878 SP with the Charlotte Checkers this season. He backstopped the Coachella Valley Firebirds to the Calder Cup Finals last season and played two NHL games with the Kraken.

The 30-year-old Driedger is a Winnipeg native and will serve as the team’s third goalie behind Connor Hellebuyck and Eric Comrie. Kahkonen will be third in line behind Sergei Bobrovsky and newly acquired Vitek Vanacek.

The 28-year-old Kahkonen has a career AHL record of 48-36-12 with a .910 SP and 2.63 GAA. Driedger has a career line of 105-75-19 with a .911 SP and 2.73 GAA.

Kahkonen will likely join the Checkers as they remain in the AHL playoff race, Driedger will join a Moose team that sits second-last in the league.
