Pending Free Agents Devils Fans Should Watch During the Playoffs - The Hockey Writers - New Jersey Devils

In today’s NHL rumors rundown, the Seattle Kraken are open to trading Brandon Tanev and retaining salary to get the best return. Who is looking? Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oilers are dealing with a complicated trade deadline situation as it was discovered that two of the players that could have been dangled as trade pieces have no-move clauses. Jake Evans is a name teams are looking at, but the Montreal Canadiens are still talking about a trade? Finally, have the Toronto Maple Leafs been calling about a defenseman but getting the cold shoulder?

Kraken Willing to Motivate Buyers on Brandon Tanev

As per TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, “Hearing that the Kraken are willing to eat 50 percent on Brandon Tanev’s $3.5M cap hit to help facilitate a deal. Which makes sense. Darren Dreger reports, “Reminder, things can shift quickly this time of year. Amid serious trade interest in Jake Evans, the Canadiens continue to have progressive extension talks with him. A possibility that isn’t being ruled out.”

Evans has 28 points, including 12 goals, on the season. Montreal is 30-26-5 and not out of the playoff mix. If Evans is moved, it will likely be in the final hours of Friday’s deadline.

Arvidsson and Henrique Both Have No-Move Clauses for the Oilers

Friedman also reported during yesterday’s podcast that Viktor Arvidsson has a no-move clause that was not made public knowledge, effectively taking him off the list of players the Oilers could move at the deadline. Interestingly, Friedman followed that up in a tweet that Adam Henrique was also given…
