In case anyone missed it, when the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night, future Hall of Famers Sidney Crosby (one point) and Evgeni Malkin (four points) became the first duo in NHL history to be part of 400 wins when scoring.
Ultimately, this unknown milestone is just another feather in the caps of two of the game’s greats and arguably two top players to skate with the Penguins.
Malkin had the game-winner in overtime, his first at PPG Paints Arena this season, giving him 53 career winners on home ice, tying him with Crosby for the franchise record.
Historically, Malkin was first to break Jaromir Jagr‘s franchise record of 45 game winners on home ice, scoring his 46th winner on Jan. 14, 2020. Since then, he’s been battling Crosby for the all-time mark.
It was only fitting that Crosby and Malkin set this NHL record with 400 wins against their Pennsylvania rivals. In their career, Crosby has a career high 56 goals against the club with a second best 134 points.
On the other hand, Malkin has 32 goals, the second-best total against any opponent, while collecting 95 points, the closest he’s gotten to 100 against any other team.

Considering that Malkin has one season left on his deal and Crosby will remain with the Penguins for two more years, these two have a chance to continue setting records and chasing each other for franchise milestones.
