The Vancouver Canucks have become notorious for making big trades ahead of the deadline as of late. Since President of Hockey Operations, Jim Rutherford, and General Manager Patrik Allvin have entered the management crew, the Canucks have conducted their big trades towards the end of January every year. With the Canucks’ self-imposed trade deadline now over, let’s take a look at every trade the team has made since last year’s actual trade deadline.

Vancouver’s most recent trade took place before the 4 Nations Face-Off, when the team sent defenseman Mark Friedman to the Nashville Predators in exchange for future considerations. This was the second time this season that the Canucks traded a player in exchange for future considerations. Vancouver’s management has a history of moving on from players quickly if they don’t think the fit is there, and this is one of many examples occurring throughout this list.

This was the second trade the Canucks conducted on January 31, 2025, and came after the team’s biggest trade on this list by far. Vancouver upped their roster massively with the additions of Marcus Pettersson and Drew O’Connor, the former of which has been strong on the team’s blueline.
