Mosley named Big Ten Third Star of the Week

MADISON, Wis. – Graduate student forward Ryland Mosley posted a five-point weekend, including his second four-point game of the season, in Wisconsin’s 6-3 win and 2-2 tie against the Long Island University Sharks last weekend to earn Big Ten’s Third Star of the week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Mosley started his weekend by recording four assists in Friday’s 6-3 victory over the Sharks, earning a helper on Wisconsin’s first, third and final two goals. This marked his second four-point night of the year after tallying one goal and three assists in UW’s 7-1 victory over Alaska Anchorage on Nov. 29, 2024. The four-assist effort marked UW’s first since Jan. 7, 2023.

The graduate student extended his current point streak to four games on Saturday, notching an assist on Quinn Finley’s first-period goal in UW’s 2-2 tie with LIU. Mosley has one goal and eight points over the last four games and has three goals and 11 points in his last six.

Through 24 games played this year, the Arnprior, Ontario, native is second on the Badgers with 11 goals and 16 assists, and he is tied for the number two spot with 27 points. The forward is also tied for 13th in the nation and sixth in the conference in points.

This marks Mosley’s second career Big Ten weekly honor, most recently being named the conference’s second star on Dec. 3, bringing Wisconsin’s 2024-25 season total to seven. The last Badgers to be named stars of the week were sophomore forward Quinn Finley and graduate student forward Cody Laskosky, who were named the conference’s second and third stars, respectively, on Dec 31.

Mosley and the Badgers continue their four-game homestand with a series against the No. 10 Michigan Wolverines on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 24-25. Friday’s game starts at 7 p.m. and streams on B1G+, while Saturday’s contest begins at 7:30 p.m. and airs on BTN.
