Kraken Kick Off Busy Week With Home Showdown Against Hot Ottawa Senators

The Hockey News - Seattle Kraken

The Seattle Kraken are looking to get back to the winning side of the ledger when they play host to the Ottawa Senators Tuesday night. But it won’t be easy for the Kraken to beat Ottawa, as the Senators are one of the hotter NHL teams at the moment. And the Kraken are coming off a 5-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday.

As far as the Sens go — they’re 7-2-1 in their past 10 games, and they’re currently on a three-game win streak that has seen them beat the Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes and Pittsburgh Penguins. The Senators are now a confident bunch that’s winning with defense. In fact, in four of their past five wins, Ottawa has held its opponent to one goal or fewer, and in the other game, the Sens allowed two goals. It is true the Senators’ offense has been solid, but Ottawa’s defensively-sound performances are what really sticks out about this group. And the last time the Kraken played the Sens this season, Ottawa beat Seattle 3-0 on Nov. 2. The Kraken will be looking for revenge for that game.

After the Ottawa game, the Kraken head out for a four-game road trip that includes showdowns with Chicago, Vegas, Colorado and Vancouver. Other than the Blackhawks, the rest of the road swing will be difficult indeed for Seattle. And this week will be especially busy, as they have three games in the following four days after Tuesday’s tilt.

As the Kraken try to get into a wild card spot in the Pacificc Division, they’re going to have to pull out big wins over teams like the Golden Knights, Avalanche and Canucks. Even a .500 record won’t be good enough for them to establish themselves as a playoff team. Time will tell how things turn out for Seattle, but they still have their destiny in their hands.
