LAST TIME OUT

The Crunch snapped their five-game home winless streak with a 7-1 win against the Belleville Senators Wednesday at Upstate Medical University Arena.

After the Senators opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 10:05 of the first period, the Crunch rattled off seven unanswered goals for their highest goal output of the season. Tristan Allard tied the game at 11:47 of the first period by cashing in off a pass from Jesse Ylonen. Gabe Fortier put the Crunch in front when he whacked home a puck out of the air at 13:39.

Syracuse stretched the lead with two more goals in the second period from Dylan Duke and Conor Sheary in a span of 2:23 midway through the frame. The Crunch added three more tallies in the third period to run away with it. Allard added his second goal of the game then set up Roman Schmidt’s first pro goal later in the period. Milo Roelens capped the scoring late as the Crunch won despite being outshot 40-24.

SCOUTING THE CRUNCH

The Crunch exploded offensively for a season-high seven goals in Wednesday’s win against the Belleville Senators. Not only was it their highest output this season, but it was also the most goals in a regular season game in over a calendar year. The Crunch last scored seven in a 7-2 win at Rochester on Nov. 1, 2023.

Syracuse leapfrogged both Belleville and Rochester in the North Division standings with the win. The Crunch are 8-6-1-2 this season and have 19 points, which is good for fourth place in the division.

After tonight, the Crunch will have played a quarter of their 72-game schedule. No matter the result, Syracuse will be above 0.500 once again. Last year, the Crunch were 11-5-0-2 through the first quarter of the season.
