COLLEGE PARK, MD — No. 5 Maryland field hockey begins postseason play against No. 16 Iowa in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament. The Terps clinched the 2-seed after finishing the conference season 6-2. They open the Tournament against the 7-seed Iowa Hawkeyes on November 7th at 2 p.m in College Park, Maryland. The Terps are seeking their third B1G Tournament title since joining the conference in 2014 and thirteenth tournament title in program history.

- No. 7 Maryland is coming off a 4-2 victory No. 17 Penn State on the road. Maryland scored three second-half goals to defeat Penn State and conclude the 2024 regular season. The win was Maryland’s sixth ranked victory of the 2024 campaign.
- With the win, the Terps clinched the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and moved to 12-5 on the season and 6-2 in conference play.
- The Terps’ offense has been fueled by senior Hope Rose and freshman Ella Gaitan. Rose leads the team with 24 points and 11 goals this season, scoring a goal in four games in a row. Gaitan has won three Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors and has eight goals this season. - In goal, sophomore Alyssa Klebasko has been dominant, ranking third in the Big Ten and seventh nationally in goals-against-average (0.96). She also ranks third in the conference with five shutouts this season.
- Maryland is 21-6-1 all-time against Iowa. The Terps defeated Iowa earlier this season 5-0 in Iowa City.
Maryland will host the Big Ten Tournament for the first time since 2016.
