No. 12 Women’s Hockey Begins AHA Play With Series Against Syracuse – Penn State

FIRST TIMES 

Freshman McKenna Walsh and Abby Stonehouse each recorded their first collegiate goals in Saturday’s 11-1 victory over Stonehill. 

Meanwhile, freshman Grace Outwater recorded her first collegiate hat-trick as she scored three goals and two assists against Stonehill. She became the 16th Nittany Lion in program history to register an hat-trick.  

OFF TO A STRONG START

The Nittany Lions are currently 7-3-0 through the first 10 games of the year.

This is the second best start through 10 games in program history. 

In 2020-21, the Nittany Lions started the season with an 8-1-1 record while all those games came against conference opponents due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

HOME ICE ADVANTAGE

Penn State currently sits fourth in the nation in average and total attendance. 

In the game against Dartmouth on October 19, Penn State hit the 10th highest attendance in program history at 1,404. 

The Nittany Lions are averaging just under 1,000 people per game at (921) while having a total attendance of 3,685.

5’s ALL AROUND

The Nittany Lions as a team sit fifth nationally in three categories. 

Penn State sits fifth in team points (90), assists (55), and goals (35). 

Meanwhile, junior Tessa Janecke sits third in the entire nation in faceoff wins with 152 on the year while Maddy Christian and Janecke sit tied for second in the nation in short-handed goals.
