Washington, D.C. and Chicago were today named sites of the 2027 and 2028 Frozen Four, respectively.
Washington last hosted in 2009, and, like then, the host school is the U.S. Naval Academy.
The University of Denver, which won the 2017 Frozen Four in Chicago, the only other time it was held there, is host of the 2028 event.
“It is a distinct honor any time your institution is awarded the hosting of a national championship event,” Denver athletic director Josh Berlo said. “I want to thank our partners at the United Center, the Chicago Sports Commission and Blue Arena in Loveland for playing such a meaningful and supportive role in the bid process. We are excited about the opportunity to bring two more NCAA Regional events to our fans in Colorado, and for the opportunity to showcase our University to the country at the 2028 NCAA Frozen Four in Chicago, home to many of our alumni and host of our eighth hockey national championship in 2017.”
This season’s Frozen Four will be held in St. Louis, with the 2026 slated for Las Vegas.
The 2027 NCAA Tournament Regional sites are Bridgeport, Conn.; Loveland, Colo.; Springfield, Mass.; and Fargo, N.D.
The 2028 Regionals will be at Sioux Falls, S.D.; Allentown, Pa.; Rochester, N.Y.; and the lone new venue: Bob Suter’s Legacy20 Arena in Middleton, Wis.
