Koster knows Knies from his days playing at the University of Minnesota. The pair have also been teammates in the Maple Leafs organization, as Koster was a fifth-round (146th overall) pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Koster, a right-shot defenseman, is entering his fifth and final year at the University of Minnesota. He’s played 140 games and has put up 14 goals and 55 assists for 69 points as he remains unsigned by the Maple Leafs.
Toronto selected Knies in the second round (57th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft.
