On Monday, Montreal hockey fans were once again reminded of the slick skills of Habs defensive prospect Lane Hutson.
During a training session with Bauer Hockey, Hutson went one-on-one with a goaltender, netting three straight goals while undressing his opposition twice.
These nifty hands are why the Canadiens drafted the Illinois-born blue liner 62nd overall back in 2022. He enjoyed two seasons with Boston University in the NCAA, amassing 97 points in 77 games between the start of the 2022-23 season and last year’s campaign.
Hutson joined the Montreal Canadiens for two games last season, and while there wasn’t enough data to predict his future success in the NHL, he did look crafty enough with the puck on his stick. He mustered two assists.
Habs’ goaltending prospect Jacob Fowler also participated in the training session. He registered a 32-6-1 record, recording a 2.14 goals against average and a .926 save percentage in 2023-24.
