Golden Knights Top Prospect Will Head To The NCAA Despite WHL Rumours

The Hockey News - Las Vegas Golden Knights

Despite rumours that Trevor Connelly will sign his entry-level contract with the Vegas Golden Knights and head to the WHL, he’ll indeed play for Providence College of the NCAA in 2024-25.

Paul Cotter was the first player the Golden Knights did this with but Connelly decided to stick to the NCAA route.

The Golden Knights used their 19th overall selection in the 2024 NHL draft to select the talented and offensively dynamic winger.

At just 18 years old, Connelly dominated the USHL with the Tri-City Storm and was a force with Team USA at the U-18s. Heading to Providence, Connelly spoke about using his time with them to add size and round out his game.

Playing in College will allow Connelly to focus on his NCAA career and work to make Team USA’s World Junior team. Both he and the Golden Knights need to be patient with his development and allow him to enter the NHL as prepared as possible.
