Bemidji State, Minnesota to faceoff in U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum Women’s Face-Off Classic

BEMIDJI – The Bemidji State women’s hockey team will ring in the 2025 calendar year by facing off against Minnesota in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum Women’s Face-Off Classic, which was announced Thursday morning.

The Beavers and Gophers will battle at Lakeville Hasse Arena in Lakeville on January 1, 2025, to start the 2025 calendar year in a nonconference bout. The teams will battle for the Hall of Fame Game Trophy, which was won by St. Thomas last year.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the women’s Hall of Fame game and look forward to playing in Lakeville,” said head coach Amber Fryklund in a release. “What a great opportunity to inspire the next generation of hockey players by showcasing an NCAA D-I women’s hockey game in the Lakeville community. It will be an exciting experience and environment for the players, fans and hockey community.”

This will be the eighth time the Beavers have competed in the Face-Off Classic and first since 2018. The annual game helps raise awareness for the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Museum in Eveleth and showcases women’s college hockey at its highest level.
