Women's Ice Hockey Sets Program Record with 19 Hockey East All-Academic Honorees

AMESBURY, Mass. – The Boston University women’s ice hockey team set a program record with 19 student-athletes being named to the 2023-24 Hockey East All-Academic Team.

The total of 19 topped the previous record of 17 set three years ago. Student-athletes needed to achieve a grade-point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two semesters that they competed in during the 2022-23 season to qualify. This was the 10th straight year that at least 10 Terriers earned a spot on the Hockey East All-Academic Team. In each of the last nine seasons, BU has earned at least 14 spots on the squad. 

Seniors Catherine Foulem and Lacey Martin secured Distinguished Scholar status after earning a 3.0 GPA in each semester over the past four seasons with the Terriers while graduate student Nadia Mattivi became a five-time honoree.

Juniors Ani FitzGerald and Liv Haag received Hockey East All-Academic recognition for the third straight year while senior Andi Calderone and juniors Christina Vote, Lilli Welcke and Luisa Welcke were honored for the second time in their careers. Seniors Madison Cardaci and Tamara Giaquinto, juniors Emily McDonaldKylie Roberts and Callie Shanahan, sophomore Brooke Disher and freshman Ella Huntley, Alex Law, Neely Nicholson and Mari Pietersen were all first-time honorees.
