COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s hockey senior defender Lauren Bernard is this week’s WCHA Defender of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Bernard was tied for first in the league with four points and a +6 on the weekend.

In Friday’s game, she assisted three of the Buckeyes’ program-record 12 goals scored against St. Thomas. After being recognized in Saturday’s Senior Day ceremony, Bernard tallied her first shorthanded goal of her career to give Ohio State a program record tying seven shorthanded goals on the year.

The Buckeye blue liner blocked two shots in the series and helped Ohio State hold St. Thomas to just seven shots on goal in game one and thirteen in game two.
