Thiele Named WCHA Goaltender of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s hockey senior Amanda Thiele is the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s Goaltender of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The award is the first of the season for Thiele.
 
Playing in the Buckeyes’ second game of last weekend’s series against No. 7 Minnesota Duluth, Thiele made 18 saves to give Ohio State a 1-0 shutout of the Bulldogs. She was a key player Ohio State’s first season sweep of Minnesota Duluth in program history.
 
Thiele has now earned two shutouts on the year and a .909 save percentage.
 
Ohio State is set for its third straight top-10 matchup this weekend with a series against No. 10 St. Cloud State in St. Cloud, Minn. The Buckeyes and Huskies play at 4 p.m. ET Friday and 2 p.m. ET Saturday from the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. The games will be streamed on B1G+ (subscription required).
