GLENS FALLS — The importance of having an all-female ice hockey program in the area is not lost on the players who have embraced the opportunity.
The second season of the Adirondack United girls hockey team is under way, and with most of the team returning, the players are determined to challenge for the state championship that barely eluded them last year.

“Obviously the sport is developing,” said Bayley Duffy, a senior forward from Queensbury, “so being able to have the opportunity to get high-school level girls out here playing at a high level, as we showed going to a state championship, it was an opportunity we all needed.”
“It’s actually really important to us that we have a girls’ hockey team in the area now, because we don’t have to play with the boys anymore,” said senior goalie Ava Reynolds of South Glens Falls. “So we get to play with people at our own level and our skill, we can move the puck quicker.”
