Walckiers Joins as Transfer - Stanford University Athletics

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford field hockey will welcome a transfer to the Farm this fall with the addition of Maroussia Walckiers. The midfielder/forward from Kraainem, Belgium played her first two seasons at Longwood, where she was the MAC Freshman of the Year in 2021.

Walckiers led the Lancers in scoring in 2022 with nine goals and three assists for 21 points, including a pair of game-winning goals. She was an All-MAC second team selection, starting all 18 of her appearances. The performance came on the heels of a Freshman of the Year campaign in 2021, with Walckiers scoring four goals with two assists for 10 points. She was also named to the MAC All-Freshman team.

Playing for her country, Walckiers was part of the Belgium youth national team system until the U18 level. She also was part of Belgian championship teams at the U14, U16 and U19 age groups with Royal Orée Hockey Club.

The second year of the Roz Ellis era at Stanford saw one of the most improved teams in the country, with the Cardinal winning 10 games and reaching the championship game of the America East Tournament. Despite a smaller roster, Stanford tallied three wins over ranked opponents and led the America East in goals-against average.
