COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — University of Michigan sophomore Abby Tamer, already a member of USA Field Hockey’s 2023 U-21 Women’s National Team, has been added to the organization’s senior-level squad, USAFH announced Wednesday (March 15).

Tamer, who also spent the previous two years with the USA U-21 team, spent 12 days in January with the U.S. Women’s National Team training at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.

“Abby got a late call up to Argentina for our training camp in December with the support of Michigan, and I’m impressed from the outset by her attitude, physicality and attacking prowess scoring in her second practice game against Argentina,” said U.S. Women’s National Team head coach David Passmore. “She has a super attitude which we saw further for a short time in Chula Vista and it will be good for her to spend time developing with the team this summer.”

Tamer previously competed with Team USA at the 2022 Junior World Cup and the 2021 Junior Pan American Championship, contributing to a bronze-medal finish in the latter event.

She has appeared in 39 games in two seasons at Michigan, starting 28 at forward and midfield. She owns 13 career goals and nine assists, ranking among the team leaders with nine goals last fall, and was named to the NFHCA All-West Region second team in 2022.
