'Cuse Welcomes #10 Penn State to Tennity


Syracuse kicks off a stretch of five home games with a two-game series against #10 Penn State on Friday, Feb. 3 (6 pm) and Saturday, Feb. 4 (3 pm). The Friday game is Student Night, which features ‘Tenders at Tennity’, while Saturday is Otto’s Kids Club Day, which includes prizes and a postgame autograph session. All kids in attendance both games are invited to join the Kids Corner to welcome the Orange onto the ice before each period.
 
The rest of the home-stand incdludes a series against Mercyhurst (Feb. 10 and 11) and Senior Day against Stonehill on Feb. 18.
 
The Orange (9-18-2, 6-5-1 CHA) are tied for second place in the College Hockey America standings, while Penn State (20-8-2, 10-1-1 CHA) holds the top spot.
 
Orange Approaching Milestones

  • Syracuse graduate student Lauren Bellefontaine is three assists shy of breaking Steph Grossi’s Syracuse career assist record. Belefontaine has 69 helpers, while Gross had 72. Bellefontaine’s 106 career points rank third on the Orange record chart. She is also chasing Grossi for that record. Grossi tallied 117 career points while in Orange.

  • Junior defenseman Hannah Johnson has 63 blocks this season, which leads the CHA and ranks eighth on the Orange single season record list. The standard is 80, set by Jessica DiGirolamo in 2021-22. Johnson recorded six blocks in Syracuse’s series at Mercyhurst last weekend, which moved her into the 10th spot on the Orange career blocks record list.

  • Orange goaltender Arielle DeSmet is chasing the Syracuse single-season saves record. The Charlotte, Vt. native has 735 stops in 27 games this season. The Orange record is 946 set in 2009-10 by Lucy Schoedel (36 games).
