Delmotte, McCusker Named to Field Hockey Canada Pan American Championship Roster


WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest field hockey’s Grace Delmotte and Brooke McCusker were selected to Field Hockey Canada’s 18-athlete Junior Women’s National Team that will compete at the 2023 Junior Pan American Championship in Barbados in April.  

Delmotte and McCusker were named to the roster after excelling with Team Canada over a nine-day period in Mexico that consisted of eight practices and five games against local clubs and the Mexican national team. 

Delmotte is no stranger to international play as the North Vancouver native played for Field Hockey Canada’s 2022 Women’s World Cup roster. Delmotte was one of 18-athletes selected to represent Canada in the country’s first World Cup appearance in 28 years. Delmotte earned her first senior cap in her first World Cup action on opening night against Spain. On July 7, 2022, Delmotte found the back of the net to put Canada 1-0 just five minutes into its match against Argentina.

Delmotte and McCusker were instrumental in helping Wake Forest make its 18th appearance in the NCAA Tournament this past year. The Demon Deacons finished the season with 15 wins, the most since 2008, and defeated three top-10 teams.

Delmotte earned second team All-Region and All-ACC honors after finishing tied for second on the Deacs with 23 points. Overall, the rising senior finished tied for the ACC lead in assists (13) and added a career-high tying five goals. 

McCusker in 21 matches, making 20 starts during her sophomore season. McCusker scored two goals and dished out a career-high three assists for seven points while attempting a career-high 29 shots with 11 coming on goal.

The North Vancouver native notched the game-winning goal in 1-0 victory at Ohio State (Sept. 18) while also scoring in Wake Forest’s ACC victory at Syracuse on Oct. 28, 2022. Additionally, McCusker dished out career-high two asssts in a road win at UC Davis Sept. 9, 2022.
