Bothun and Janecke Capture CHA Monthly Awards


WINTHROP, Mass.- Penn State women’s ice hockey student-athletes Tessa Janecke and Josie Bothun each captured College Hockey America monthly awards on Tuesday. Janecke was named Rookie of the Month while Bothun secured a Goaltender of the Month nod.
 
Janecke tallied three goals and four assists for seven points during the month of January. She netted a +9 +/- rating, tallied one game winning goal and fired off 29 shots on goal. In the faceoff circle she dominated, winning 86 faceoffs while only losing 39 for a 68.8% faceoff win percentage. On the year, Janecke stands at 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points which sits second on team. This is her fourth Rookie of the Month award this season.
 
Bothun secured five wins during the month of January earning a save percentage of .904 and GAA of 2.01. She tallied 94 saves while allowing just 10 goals. On the year, Bothun has tallied 19 wins, GAA of 2.03 and save percentage of .916. This is her fourth Goaltender of the Month honor this year.
 
The Nittany Lions return to action on Friday, February 3 when they travel to face Syracuse at 6 p.m.
