Syracuse continues its stretch of six games in 10 days with a midweek series against College Hockey America foe RIT. Syracuse will square off with the Tigers on Tuesday, Jan. 24 (6 pm) and Wednesday, Jan. 25 (6 pm). The Orange (8-16-1 overall, 5-3 CHA) won two against the Tigers (3-20-1, 0-7-1) in October. Syracuse has won 29 of the 44 meetings in the series, including the last eight in a row.

Last time the Orange took on RIT in October they swept the Tigers with 1-0 and 4-1 victories. In the 4-1 victory on October 29th, Sophomore Sarah Marchand scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner and assisted on Madison Primeau’s second period goal.

Graduate student Lauren Bellefontaine became the fourth member Syracuse’s 100 Point Club with four in the series at Lindenwood.  She had an assist in the first game and then tallied three points in the second, scoring two goals and dishing out one assist. Her 100th career point was Syracuse’s second goal of the game.

Graduate student Arielle DeSmet recorded her 2,000th career save in Syracuse’s win at Lindenwood (1/20/2023). She had 22 saves in the victory. DeSmet had 25 saves in Syracuse’s second game against the Lions, increasing her career total to 2,046. She ranks 14th on the College Hockey America all-time saves record list and is 52 saves shy of the 13th spot on the list. DeSmet’s 622 saves this season is sixth on Syracuse’s single-season record list. She also holds the second spot on the list with her 775 saves last season.

Senior defenseman Mae Batherson ranks among the top scoring defensemen in Syracuse history. She is sixth on the career points and goals by a defenseman record list and is tied for sixth on the Orange career assists by a defenseman record ledger. Batherson had one goal and one assist in both games at Lindenwood, increasing her career scoring total to 54 points. The New Minas, Nova Scotia tallied her 50th career point with an assist against #5 Colgate (Jan. 10, 2023).

The Orange close out the six-game run at Mercyhurst on Saturday January 28th and Sunday Jan. 29th.
