On Saturday against the Toronto Marlies, we saw Rochester Americans forward Mason Jobst produce his first professional hat trick to help keep the Amerks in the game.

“Sometimes I guess the puck just bounces your way. I was getting some lucky breaks,” said Jobst after Friday’s game against the Marlies, “but it was nice to get my first hat trick, for sure.”

Unfortunately, casting a shadow over Jobst’s phenomenal offensive production on Saturday was a late third-period comeback by the Marlies, who scored three times over the final four minutes, including the go-ahead goal with nine seconds remaining to escape with a 7-5 win.

“He competes really hard and he’s got a really good hands,” continued Appert when discussing Jobst’s upward trajectory in offensive production this season. “In terms of the work every day to get better – he spends extra time in the shooting room, and he spends extra time on the ice.”

Appert also refers to Jobst as a “Swiss Army Knife” due to his ability to play on any given line, on any given day at the drop of the dime, affirming Jobst has great camaraderie and communication with all of his teammates.

Last season we saw Jobst split the campaign between the Amerks and the San Jose Barracuda, the American Hockey League affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, where he produced a combined 15 points in 37 total games. After posting four goals, nine assists and…
