•  MSU tangles with Miami for the second straight season after a seven-year hiatus in the series.  The former CCHA-mates played last October in East Lansing, with the Spartans earning a 3-1, 2-1 sweep.  The all-time series tips in favor of Michigan State, which leads 71-34-6.  The Spartans own a 29-16-3 mark in Oxford.  Miami assistant coach Zach Cisek is a Spartan alumnus and was a goaltender for MSU from 2013-15.  He is in his first season at Miami after previously coaching at Lake Superior State, where he coached MSU captain Miroslav Mucha (2019-22).

 

•  MSU averages 3.5 goals per game and has 49 scores through 14 games.  The Spartans tallied 76 goals in 36 games a year ago, and scored 80 goals in 36 games in the final full pre-Covid season (2019-20).  MSU is on pace to score 126 goals on the season – and MSU has not had 100 or more goals in a season since 2011-12.   Sixteen different players have scored MSU’s 49 goals, with 13 having at least two scores.  A total of 20 skaters have at least one point on the year.  

•  Karsen Dorwart  has been named the Big Ten’s Second Star of the Week, as announced by the Conference office on Tuesday. Dorwart had a pair of goals and two assists in MSU’s split at No. 6 Penn State last weekend. Dorwart…
