Dorwart Named Big Ten Second Star


East Lansing – Michigan State freshman Karsen Dorwart (Sherwood, Oregon) has been named the Big Ten’s Second Star of the Week, as announced by the Conference office on Tuesday. 
 
Dorwart had a pair of goals and two assists in MSU’s split at No. 6 Penn State last weekend. Dorwart had an assist in Friday’s game, and then recorded his first multiple-goal game on Saturday. 
 
The freshman center’s MSU’s top line and is the team’s second-leading point scorer with a 4-10-14 scoring line.  He is ninth in the Big Ten in points, sixth in assists, and also ranks sixth with a +11 rating. 
 
The Spartans, ranked No. 16 in both of this week’s national polls, are 9-4-1 overall and 5-2-1in Big Ten play, sitting in second place with 15 points.  MSU has matched its Big Ten points total from 2021-22 through the first two months of the regular season. 
 
MSU heads to Oxford, Ohio this weekend for a non-conference series with Miami and returns to Big Ten play the first two weekends in December, when it hosts No. 2 Minnesota (Dec. 2-3) and No. 5 Michigan (Dec. 9) at Munn Ice Arena.
