Men's Hockey Hosts #5 Quinnipiac Friday; Princeton Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (1-2-1, 1-2-1 ECAC) return to the friendly confines of Meehan Auditorium to host the fifth-ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats (5-1-2, 2-0-0 ECAC) on Friday before welcoming the Princeton Tigers (0-3-0, 0-3-0 ECAC) on Saturday.
 
Both games are set to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.
 
SCOUTING THE BEARS

  • Brown enters the third weekend of the season with a 1-2-1 overall record. After four conference games, Brown has four league points to sit sixth in the standings.
  • Four Bears have recorded two points to this point of the season to lead the team. Bradley Cocca, Nathan Plessis, and Cole Quisenberry each have a goal and assist while sophomore Matt Sutton has two assists. Ten other Bears have a point through four games.
  • Sophomore goaltender Mathieu Caron has started all four games for Brown to this point. Caron holds a 2.45 goals against average and a .916 save percentage. Brown is tied for third in the ECAC and 21st in the NCAA in scoring defense.
  • Brown’s power play has struck for two goals on 16 attempts with the team holding a 1-0-1 record when scoring on the power play.
  • The Bears have averaged 13.0 penalty minutes per game – the 11th-most in the NCAA. Opponents have cashed in for seven power play goals in 26 attempts. In 5-on-5 gameplay, Brown is outscoring opponents 4-2 with shots even at 77-77. On special teams, Brown has been outscored 8-2 with the opponents holding a 42-18 edge in shots.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS

  • Quinnipiac enters the weekend with a 5-1-2 overall record and 2-0-0 ECAC mark. The Bobcats are the fifth-ranked team in the nation per the USCHO.com and USA Today polls.
  • The Bobcats roster features seven graduate students and four transfer students. The seven graduate students have combined to play in 966 career NCAA games. For context, Brown’s entire roster has combined to play in 756 NCAA games.
  • Jacob Quillan leads the Bobcats in assists (5) and points (9). He is tied with Ethan de Jong with a team-leading four goals.
  • Quinnipiac’s offense averages 4.50 goals per game to rank second in the ECAC and 17 Bobcats have recorded two or more points this season.
