5 Questions: Get to know CBJ forward Kent Johnson

For the first few months of the hockey season, Kent Johnson was just a name Blue Jackets fans knew would be a big part of the team’s future, having been the organization’s top pick in the 2021 draft. 

Then, after a season that included success with the University of Michigan and two different international tournaments in the Team Canada sweater, Johnson arrived in Columbus for the first time in mid-April. He made his Nationwide Arena and NHL debut April 13 vs. Montreal, playing in the Blue Jackets’ last nine games of the season.

A highly skilled forward who was one of the top scorers in college hockey this past year at U-M, Johnson didn’t get a goal in his debut but did finish with three assists for the Jackets. The No. 5 overall pick in the draft will now spend the summer training with eyes on making a big impact next season.
